The MISP two-day intensive course is a very complete course with an internationally approved curriculum shared by all MISP Trainers. This includes learning the unique MISP massage routine, child development, scientific knowledge, as well as the basis for bringing the idea of touch and movement for learning into all schools subjects.
With the two-day course every instructor receives a very comprehensive workbook that becomes a basic tool for the succcessful implementation of the programme.
Once the course has been completed successfully, the participant is given the MISP Instructor Certificate, allowing the implementation of the MISP programme within classrooms in the presence of children, and within communities with children and their parents.
The MISP intensive course is offered in several locations around the world If no training is offered in your area or country, please contact us and we will make sure a training gets organised in your country.
| Kay White |
|---|
| Country | Australia | | Profile | Kay lives in beautiful Bathurst in the central west of New South Wales. Kay has a rather varied range of experiences that have led her to her current position as MISP International Trainer. She started her career in the far west of NSW as a primary school teacher. She then spent 16 years on a sheep station near Bourke where she taught her 2 boys via School of the Air before returning to teaching and further study (adult education, distance education, and training teachers in the Reading Recovery program).
In 1998 Kay completed a diploma of remedial massage, setting up her own therapy practice in 2000. In 2005 she discovered the Massage in Schools Program and trained as a MISP Instructor with Carol Trower and Jean Barlow who were invited to Australia to run the first training courses held there. She decided as soon as she began the course that her background and experiences were ideal for her to become a Trainer as soon as she could in order be able to increase the number of Instructors who would then abe able to teach the MISP to children in Australia, and has been working tirelessly towards this aim since travelling to London in 2007 for the Trainer course. Kay now spends her time conducting regular MISP instructor training courses across Australia, conducting MISP classes in her local area, looking after the needs of her massage clients and facilitating workshops on bodywork therapies and stress management.
Kay has been a very proactive pioneer of MISP in Australia and is currently the President of Massage in Schools Australia Inc (MISA) and a Board member of the International Massage in Schools Association. She is passionate about seeing MISP accepted and established in schools and other settings across Australia and is available to conduct courses in all states (as well as in other countries). Kay is able to draw upon the range of her experiences in both education and bodywork therapies to provide an enjoyable and informative course in a supportive environment. |
