| Profile | Anne Elston qualified as a primary school teacher in 1979 in Manchester. She then went on to work with teenagers, young offenders and their families in the Social Services Division of Stockport, Cheshire for the next 10 years. Anne became the mother of 3 girls and 1 boy during these years, and on moving to Plymouth in 1989, decided it would be a good and practical idea to get back into teaching.
Anne worked in inner city Plymouth, in an area of high social and economic deprivation, for 16 years. She taught throughout the primary range, running the school's Nursery Class for 3 years, and working with every year group from 3-11 years. Anne developed a particular interest in Special Educational Needs during this time, and worked with Nurture Classes for over 5 years. She was keen to try any and every approach to help the children to cope with school and to learn as much as they could. She became very experienced in the use of group work, circle time and circles of friends, and also used Accelerated Learning and Brain Gym.
Anne completed a Master of Arts in Education (Special Needs/Inclusive Education) with The Open University in 2003. She then began running courses for teachers in a range of SEN subjects. Anne trained as a Massage in Schools Instructor and immediately began using the program, becoming a Trainer for the Massage in Schools Programme in 2005. Anne is totally committed to the vision of the Program, and feels it is a privilege to be able to pass on her exciting knowledge to help others become Instructors.
Anne became a permanent resident of Western Australia in September 2005. She is trying her best to 'spread the word' about Massage in Schools as widely as possible in Australia. Anne will also be working as a teacher and trainer in Perth and outside the city in more remote locations.
